The rather disturbing thing about this weekend was that Illyria had attempted to be ...kind to Wesley on some level, and only forced her company on him in small doses, with plenty of time for retreating to sit in the dark and further destroy his metabolism. So it was only now that she was finally showing him her living quarters. Such as they were.

"This is where I don't sleep."

"Feel free to return the favor by playing your own music far too loudly," Wesley told Sam. "Granted that's not a good way to guarantee your own safety, but I can assure you that I would find it amusing. You'll find that 'Mandy' played over and over again can be especially taxing to the nerves."

"Play the Dixie Chicks and die slowly," was Illyria's only commentary on that.

"There won't be any Dixie Chicks, I promise," Sam said. They were a little too perky for him, after all. "I could try to find things both of us like, and then the problem would be solved."

"You'll find that attempting to fully understand things that Illyria likes has the same invigorating zing as contemplating how pleasant it might be to swallow razor blades with a hearty chaser of acid," Wesley said. "But then I'm something of an optimist these days."

"I really like good challenges," Sam said. "I'm kind of weird like that."

"He also grinds his teeth in his sleep." If they were listing ways in which he was 'weird.' "And occasionally speaks to someone called 'Peter' who isn't present."

"I suppose next we'll hear about a fondness for pina coladas and getting caught in the rain," Wesley said. To Sam he added, "I can assure you details like that are unnecessary."

"Oh, there won't be any details, don't worry," he said, before giving Illyria a sheepish look. "I'll try to grind less. And, uh, talk less." Maybe not sleeping would be a good idea.

"I'm irritated by neither; they were merely observations. I also track your Rapid Eye Movement phases."

Yeah, not sleeping really sounded like a good idea. "You...you do?" he asked. "Are they...entertaining somehow?"

"Occasionally they coincide with fluctuations in body temperature, nerve spasms, and largely unintelligible conversations with 'Peter.' "

Sam was close to having a nerve spasm right now, but managed to keep himself from actually flailing, and just turned bright red instead.

"And here I was saying to myself 'I wonder what sort of conversation could contain far more information than the time Spike got pissed and felt the urgent need to tell me about an encounter with him, Angelus, and a cocker spaniel named Clive?'," Wesley mused, mostly to himself. "How thrilled I am to now know."

"Peter's my boyfriend," Sam explained. "He used to go here but he graduated and now he's in New York so I don't get to see him that often and...I'm just going to stop talking now."

"Yes, because when I said the conversation had too much information what I meant was for you to go into greater detail," Wesley replied. "Well, no one is currently dead or bleeding so we'll call this one a win."

Wesley reached into his inner coat pocket and pulled out a business card. He offered it to Sam. "Here. In case anything happens. You'll want to talk to Harmony. Actually 'want' is a far too strong word, but she's in charge of the forms. Be sure to mention if the problem involves interdimensional vortexes or goats. We have to bill those to a separate account."

Sam was pretty sure that if he was ever involved with something that had to do with goats, he wouldn't be telling anyone, but he took the card anyway. "Um, thanks," he said. "I'll be sure to hold onto this."
